As early-stage investors, a first cheque is usually between £100,000 and £400,000.
We back software firms that already sell and want a second market.
A cheque needs a founder who will still be at the company after the round closes.
We look first for founders building new answers to the hardest problems of the moment.

The community

North Gate works from London. The desk sits with founders on capital and introductions.

From London the desk has grown a founder community. The aim is to connect the city with that community. With partners such as Google for Startups, DeepMind, Goldman Sachs, NatWest Bank, and General Catalyst, the programmes are fireside talks, workshops, grant money where it is needed, and pro-bono help.

Lyan's Den is the house gathering: ideas, briefings, and capital in one room. Workshops, fireside talks, working sessions, introductions, and a pitch with a £10,000 cash prize — built to push new companies forward.
